IMAX Mega Screen Flicks Coming to the Small Screen

IMAX has given the Documentary Channel exclusive rights to the company's 21 docs. Flicks such as the Patrick Stewart narrated The Secret of Life on Earth (pictured, right), will begin airing as a weekly series on the network in June.

Imax thought the time was right to license the movies to cable "because high definition is breaking away from traditional television," said Pat McDonald, co-president of Northstar Media, which is serving as sales agent for Imax. The movies will be available in standard definition, but they'll also get remastered in high-def. (Variety)

Now if only the Documentary Channel was also airing IMAX's 3-D fare, maybe the states would be in the same league as Japan in the race to the third dimension.
