We were fairly horrified when we read this -- it's a jaw-dropping 1999ish figure. And isn't there some sort of recession coming that's supposed to hit ad-based businesses?

Still, when you look at recent web deals, $200 million, or $50 per visitor, actually only sounds mildly crazy. Microsoft's $44.6 billion bid for Yahoo, for example, places a $1,186 valuation on each new user, according to Compete.com. And based on its registered user base, Facebook users were worth an estimated$300 apiece to Microsoft.
