ubuntubrainstorm.jpgUbuntu has launched a new community feedback site, dubbed Brainstorm, where users can post ideas and suggest improvements they'd like to see in the popular Linux distribution. You can also comment and vote on other people's suggestions and ideas for improving Ubuntu.

The new site is patterned after Dell's IdeaStorm site, which the company set up with similar goals. Feedback gathered on IdeaStorm eventually convinced Dell to start selling Linux-based PCs.

Given that Ubuntu is open source it's already possible for anyone to contribute to the project. However with Ubuntu expanding and gaining more mainstream appeal, it has begun to attract plenty of casual users who aren't skilled programmers able contribute code, but would nevertheless like to offer their feedback and insights.

And that's exactly what Brainstorm is designed to do. By directly collecting user ideas and feedback, the Ubuntu development team now has a handy way to find the most pressing user issues. That in turn can mean more focused, and possibly even faster, development

So if you have an idea for Ubuntu, head over to Brainstorm and let the Ubuntu community know.
