Former NFL Quarterback Tased in Jail

"Orange County sheriff's deputies used a Taser on FOX sportscaster and former NFL quarterback Josh Booty while he was being booked at the
Orange County jail on suspicion of driving under the influence," the *O.C. Register *reports.

Booty was arrested by the California Highway Patrol after being pulled over on the 55 freeway near Baker Street in Santa Ana for a traffic violation, said Jim Amormino of the Orange County Sheriff's
Department. He was arrested on suspicion of misdemeanor driving under the influence and taken to the Orange County Jail in Santa Ana.

While the 6-foot-2, 221-pound Booty was being moved from one cell to another, Booty began fighting with deputies, Amormino said.

"He became belligerent and uncooperative," said Amormino. Deputies used a
Taser to subdue the Fox analyst. During the struggle, Booty fell and hit his head on a table, Amormino said.

Booty, 32, quickly apologized to the deputies for fighting with them, authorities said. He was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Booty played professional baseball for five years in the Florida Marlins'
organization before leaving to playing quarterback at Louisiana State
University. Booty jumped in and out of the lineup for two seasons before leaving for the NFL.
