Who doesn't love a good ol' shiver-inducing post-apocalyptic thriller?
Director Neil Marshall, who helmed one of last year's underground (pun intended!) horror hits, the nightmarishly claustrophobic film The Descent, apparently took elements from The Warriors, 28 Days Later and Mad Max to pen his highly anticipated upcoming film*Doomsday. *
For bonus dystopia points, the film also stars Clockwork Orange's Malcolm McDowell.
Doomsday deals with a viral outbreak called the Reaper that wipes out Scotland's population, causing the country to be quarantined from the rest of the world. Thirty years later, the virus crops up in a new country, an elite group of survivors is dispatched to battle their way to a cure.
Director Marshall recently launched a MySpace blog to* *shares tidbits from the set:
Rad. The film is slated to release later this year.
