The National Venture Capitalists Association has released its survey forecasting next year's trends in the VC world. The good news? According to respondents, investment in internet specific companies, clean tech, and the IPO market should improve in 2008. The bad news is that the U.S. economy at large will most likely continue to take it on the chin. Below is the highlight reel.

Of the 170 U.S.-based venture capitalists surveyed:

35% say valuations will be higher on the acquisitions market
55% believe the volume of acquisitions and mergers will increase
55% anticipate an increase in investment for web-based businesses
57% expect the number of VC firms to shrink next year
59% predict the IPO market to make a steady recovery
80% forecast bullish CleanTech investments in 2008
