"Is Apple about to release the iPhone Nano? That's what an AT&T sales rep told a friend of ours this morning when he called to order a new iPhone (sorry, he's a little behind the times on these things)"

What, as opposed to ordering an old iPhone?

"She couldn't offer much in the way of detail, except to say that, as the name implies, the Nano will be a lot smaller than the current model. "

Apple Kremlinology has its ways and means. The "Nano is coming" stories are well-trodden, and now it's time for "guess the date, get the credit": folks have been playing that game with Apple's rumored subnotebook for years. Are AT&T reps telling customers to delay their purchases? That'll be the day.

Having said that, the sudden bombshell of a $250 iPhone just as holiday shopping is going nuts would be dreamy.
