The next issue of Consumer Reports will publish a survey that marks cellular carriers as among the most hated companies in America.
We hate them more than traditional telcos, cable companies and banks: more than half the nation's cellphone users are upset by their carrier. Sprint, predictably, is the most hated. IPhone users on AT&T are the happiest.
The most loathed practice? The fact that you can't so much as blink without triggering mandatory contract extensions, which the carriers apply both as frequently and as deceptively as possible.
What will the carriers do about this report? Congress is a lobbyists'
playground and the carriers have little incentive to be nice to existing customers, only to potential ones. If you're already giving them money, you're probably locked into a contract which works exactly like a debt. Do debt collectors provide tech support?
