ASRock is to sell a monster frankenmotherboard with dual chipsets from yesteryear's cutting edge.
There's a certain pleasure to building new computers out of old parts, but most of us don't go around manufacturing the results. ASRock's new AliveDual eSATA2 motherboard, however, has an old-school pedigree. Combining two vintage Nvidia chipsets: the M1695 PCI Express bridge and nForce 3 (number seven is the current generation), it's designed to be compatible with not only every AMD CPU from the last 800 years, but the PCI or AGP video card of your choice.
Will one person own up to wanting one of these things? This is surely one of those things designed to provide a cheap upgrade path for people who own industrial-grade walnut sorting machines and the like.
