Like the Micropolitan Museum's Wim van Egmond, I've always been fascinated by worlds that exist just beyond the scope of our naked eyes. Unlike Wim, I don't have a photographic microscope -- but the macro lens on even a consumer-grade digital camera is a pretty powerful tool for exploring objects hidden from everyday attention. Above are the carapaces of a dragonfly and its prey, frozen in their last mortal pose; more pictures after the jump.
Hope you enjoyed these. More of my nature pics can be found on my website or Flickr. And if you're into macrophotography, send in your favorite shots and we can make a gallery of WiSci photographer images.
