Blu-ray's big security advantage over HD-DVD has been neutralized, according to SlySoft, makers of cracking software AnyDVD. Both hi-def formats carry the already compromised AACS encryption, but Blu-ray added an extra lockdown into the mix: BD+.
BD+ is essentially a virtual machine supplied on the disc that runs on the player (ever wondered why your HD players take so long to start up?).
SlySoft have figured out a way around this, but are keeping it quiet. The software is available to buy, for $50, but it's shareware, so you get two weeks to check it out before paying.
