Terabyte is, finally, the new gigabyte. By the end of 2008, everything will have one. Sharp's AQUOS BD-HDW20 Blu-Ray recorder, announced today for Japan, is the firm's latest next-gen flagship, packing 8.79609302 × 10^12 bits of recording space into a neat-looking under-set box. It can start recording instantaneously from any of its analog and dual digital tuners, and is a coffee-snortingly expensive $2,620.
But worry not! A cut price 500GB version is a mere $1,750. Both models will roll out on December 1, with 10,000 to be made a month. According to the spec sheets, 1TB is good for about 63 hours of HDTV recording.
