We like the Pear Light, from NYC industrial design student Nick Foley. The urethane bulbs contain 10 LEDs each, batteries and a charging circuit. A rare earth magnet keeps the fruit on the tree, from where it can be "picked" and used as a portable lamp for an hour or more.
We don't know if Nick has any German in him, but there's also a fine play on words in here: The German word Birne means both pear and bulb.
