According to a new reportby Ernst & Young and Dow Jones VentureOne, this year's VC investment in Cleantech is surging, on course to surpass 2006's record high by a projected 35% worldwide, although growth is overwhelmingly in the U.S.

In the first half of 2007, U.S. VCs poured $893 million into cleantech, accounting for 5.4% of venture investment made nationwide. Not surprisingly, solar energy and other alternative fuels are the current VC darling, comprising 15 of the 26 deals completed in Q1 and Q2 of 2007.
