Apple has updated all its iLife and iWork applications. The company hasn't provided much in the way of details, but most of the updates list "overall stability," "compatibility" and performance boosts among the changes.
The updates are available via software update or the Apple website, though in this case there’s so many updates we recommend running Software Update. Note that if you do decide to go the manual route, you need to install the iLife Support update before installing the individual update components.
With the iLife updates alone topping out at over 175MB, if you might want to keep an eye on your monthly bandwidth limits, should you have them.
IPhoto and iMovie, both now at version 7.1, are the most detailed releases. In addition to the generic improvements mentioned above, the iPhoto update offers some new greeting card themes for the holidays and the update also takes care of issues that could crop up when moving photos between events.
IMovie 7.1 address some, though not all, of the features lost when moving from the previous revision. Still frame creation and frame-by-frame trimming have both returned, but perhaps the most significant upgrade is the return of manual audio fades.
In addition to the software updates, Apple has pushed out new firmware for most of it’s Core 2 Duo machines. The iMac, Macbook and Macbook Pro all have new firmware available. Details are thin, but among those mentioned are fixes for some issues with Boot Camp.
