It's been one thing after the other here in New York. Last month a steam pipe explosion shut down Lexington Avenue, killing one and injuring more than 30. Today, after a thunderstorm in the early hours of the morning, New York's entire subway system has been crippled.
According to the New York Times:
Um, 1.7 inches? That's all we need for the city's entire subway system to be shut down?!
Stealing a line from Gawker: Congratulations, New York, we're finally a third world country! If we were terrorists we'd just sit back and let the weather take care of things.
You'd think we'd be able to figure out how to keep rain water out of the subway. You'd think. What's next? A tree limb that shorts the entire electrical grid? Oh wait, Ohio already did that.
