Minicooper_lrgHybrid Technologies, the power behind the SmartCar, has been showing prototypes of its Mini lithium conversion for months now. Last week the company announced that it is moving the car into production. According to company officals, the all-electric Mini has a range of at least 120 miles on a charge. It can reach speeds of 80 mph. And it accelerates from 0 to 60 in 6.0 seconds. The Mini Cooper frame is produced by Mini Cooper in Oxford England, and the conversion to all-lithium batteries will take place in North Carolina at Hybrid's
Mooresville plant. Prices are not currently available.
