Nissan_gtrEven though it will arrive for sale in the U.S. late this year or early next, Nissan is keeping the wraps on its forthcoming GT-R. For many enthusiasts, this car is truly the heir to the Acura NSX. At $70K, it's certainly not a sports car for the financially challenged, but its performance promises to be awe-inspiring. In fact, Nissan has everything to lose if the car fails to live up to the formidable expectations surrounding this machine. "Road and Track" has learned some details about the GT-R. For example, power will come from a 3.7-liter version of Nissan's VQ powerplant. A pair of turbochargers will help it produce about 450 bhp and 360
lb.-ft. of torque. The car will feature a host of competition components, including racing profile camshafts and new valvetrain. It will come mated to a Getrag 6-speed transmission or a paddle-shift sequential automatic with seven or eight gears. And gold colored Brembos at four corners will stop it.
