
Sales of pre-recorded movies in Sony's Blu-ray format were double those for Toshiba's rival HD DVD in the first half of this year, according to a new survey. Home Media Research says early adopters snapped up 1.6 million Blu-ray movies in the period, compared with 795,000 HD DVD titles.
A rep for the research firm said brisk sales of soft-core gay porn epic "300" helped boost Blu-ray's fortunes.
