Take that, Mini. "AutoWeek" claims to have inside skinny that Audi is bringing its entry-level A1 to the United States, to be followed by its currently top-secret S1, which will be supercharged. Coupe, convertible and three- and five-door hatchback versions are all in the works, according to the magazine. Look for the A1 base model to be powered by Volkswagen's 1.4-liter direct-injection engine producing 90 hp--or 120 hp (for the turbocharged engine available in Europe). Larger powerplants and diesels are also in the works. And so will an all-wheel drive platform. Europe gets first dibs--the car will be available in 2009. It will follow a year later in the U.S.
