More Peep Squad action, this time the result of a sting operation by the Consumerist. After hearing from several Geek Squad techies that "stealing customers' nudie pics was an easter egg hunt", journalist Ben Popken loaded up a PC with porn and screen capture software and touted it around a dozen Geek Squad stores (Geek Squad are the repair guys at Best Buy).
They caught one employee harvesting the grot onto his company thumb drive and then took the info straight to the top, Geek Squad CEO Robert Stephens. Popken wrote:
Stephens replied, stating that, in this isolated incident, the employee would be fired
The answer was no:
The lesson here, folks, is to keep your more, shall we say secret, data in a safe place. If your computer crashes, it's too late to delete it. Oh, and be careful where you shop for repairs.
