Mercedes-Benz is switching to alloy for its new SLC supercar (due in 2010) and for its
SL sports car. Aluminum will improve performance, handling and gas mileage. Both cars will feature front-engines and will share key components such as engines, gearboxes, axles and electrical systems. Though previous reports had claimed that the forthcoming SLC would have carbon-fiber body parts, Mercedes-Benz has affirmed that these will also be aluminum.
