Exhast_pipeIn a breakthrough that seems too good to be true, three fishing buddies from Wales have developed a technology that traps ordinary car emissions and can later turn them into biofuel. The technology, called "Greenbox," would replace a car's exhaust to trap greenhouse gases, including carbon dioxide and nitrous oxide—and emit mostly water vapor. The captured gases can be processed to create a biofuel using genetically modified algae. Greenbox was developed by organic chemist Derek Palmer and engineers Ian Houston and John Jones. The trio claim that the technology could be used for cars, buses, lorries and eventually buildings and heavy industry, including power plants. The three stumbled across the idea while experimenting with carbon dioxide to help boost algae growth for fish farming.
