In an effort to boost gas mileage across its family of drivetrains, Ford is introducing what it calls “twin-force”
technology, dual turbochargers on its four-, six- and eight-cylinder gasoline engines. Spokespeople for the company say that these will deliver diesel-like mileage. The engines will use direct-injection to boost power and Ford is promising to couple the power plants with new gas-saving transmissions. The first car to feature the twin-force technology will be the Lincoln MKS sedan due in 2008.
