Dirt bikes, scooters, go-carts and every other type of off-road motorized vehicle helped send injury rates up 86 percent between 1990 and 2003, according to the current issue of "Pediatrics." While the majority of injuries were caused when a child was riding an ATV (44.8 percent), 21.1 percent were related to two-wheel off-road vehicles and another 13.7 percent were associated with go-carts and buggies.
