Amazon and Microsoft have given a boost to the HD-DVD format with a new plan to release high-def versions of independent films in the format.
The new CustomFlix DVD On Demand service allows the retailer to burn an HD-DVD copy of a film upon ordering, allowing Amazon to boost its selection with indie features that can't justify a commercial production run.
Amazon expects to have a thousand movies available through the service. Visit the CustomFlix site if you want to submit your lame "Memento" hack job for consideration.
