Nothing truly mind blowing came out of Steve Jobs’ WWDC keynote today (full coverage here), that is, except for iChat. Most Apple fan boys seemed mostly unimpressed by the announcement, possibly because Jobs himself rarely goes bonkers over iChat in the same way he hypes other Apple products. But with the new version of iChat, a new business niche may have been created.

The update allows video chatters to place any background into their live video cast. The background can be any static photo or video the user selects. The update also allows you to apply Photobooth effects to your image (think Photoshop filters) or insert your live speaking mouth onto another static face image. As if that weren’t enough, the homerun feature of the update is that iChat now allows you to show presentation graphics along with your live image. The possible applications for customer service, video blogging and distance learning are intriguing.
