Wonderland has posted a revealing interview with Jesse Alexander, conducted during the recent Hollywood & Games Summit. Alexander currently commands mad geek cache, having served as executive producer on shows like Lost, Heroes, and Alias. He was actually involved in Alias when the ill-received game adaptation was released, and he shared his thoughts on the wrongheaded processes that brought about its failure. The transcription is pretty raw:
I'd like to take his word for it, but I think we'll have to wait for companies like Brash Entertainment to show their hands before we can judge is stuff has truly changed. Alexander, though, seems committed:
A Heroes game is a no-brainer, and while we've seen neither hide nor hair of it, we know that Ubisoft is developing a *Lost *game in Montreal.
My big concern is whether these games can recreate what it is about these series that compels us to begin with. Self-important TV critics like to talk about how Lost is game-like in the way that it demands active participation in what's historically been a passive experience.
Well, when that world is transplanted onto a medium in which agency is a given, what's the hook going to be?
