Young Hollywood Execs Network on Xbox Live

"Let's do lunch?" Who has time for lunch anymore? Today's young movers and shakers in Hollywood are networking and cutting deals over Xbox Live, says Variety:

In an incestuous industry town like Hollywood, most people's social circles primarily involve people in the biz; so tagging somebody with a grenade at night can make it easier to give them a call about a project the next day.

"If you played a game with someone, even four months ago, they'll start off a pitch by saying, 'Remember me? I schooled you in (football game) "Madden," ' " says DreamWorks production prexy Adam Goodman, a semi-regular player.

Apparently the deal that New Line Cinemas struck for Gears of War came about because the screenwriter and the studio exec responsible played the game together on Xbox Live. The first pitch came as a voice message over Live. Maybe I should start checking those more often than once a month.
