Yesterday at the D conference, Steve Jobs had a chat with Bill Gates, and an interview with Walt Mossberg of the Wall Street Journal. Engadget, as ever, did a great job of covering the interview and have a full transcription over at their site.
Some interesting facts came out. The iPhone will indeed be running a full version of OS X. From Jobs:
And the iPhone will eventually allow for third party developers to add applications. From what Steve says, it seems that they are worried about 3rd party applications causing crashes: "We'll find a way to let 3rd parties write apps and still preserve security on the iPhone. But until we find that way we can't compromise the security of the phone."
Another interesting answer regards the iPhone's keyboard (or lack thereof).
Well, only a couple of weeks to wait now and we can stop the speculation. Head over to Engadget to check the whole interview, and Steve's thoughts on the Apple TV ("a DVD player for the internet age"), being a major Windows developer with iTunes ("It's like giving a glass of ice water to somebody in hell" - Snap!) and Fake Steve Jobs (RSJ reads it and thinks it's funny).
