The skies cleared long enough for Dario Franchitti to take victory away from his teammate and best friend, Tony Kannan, in a soaking Memorial -Day weekend event. Lazier crashed. In a magnificent move, he spun, then recovered right at the entrance of pit lane and hobbled down for a tire change. It was too late for him to fight his was back to the lead, however. Another downpour red-flagged the race at lap 166 of 415.
