I suppose we should have expected a wave of Greener Than Thou ecoholiness in the wake of Apple's environmental hosanna, and Dell doesn't disappoint with its latest stunner. Rather than futzing about with hardware redesign, the PC maker is focusing on packaging, specifically the way servers are assembled for bulk orders.
Instead of individually crating every unit, customers can now buy combo packs with as many as 10 servers in a single box. Dell estimates it'll save 2,000 tons of cardboard per year, 1,000 tons of wood pallets and 120 tons of plastic and polyethylene.
