The command center at Cheyenne Mountain was supposed to be effectively mothballed as operations were shifted to nearby Peterson Air Force Base, but a new study by the research arm of Congress suggests that moving house may not be the right answer. The General Accounting Office, which never met a Pentagon idea it actually liked, is saying that more analysis is needed before moving operations out of the mountain bunker:
