Tom's Hardware, one of the web's best watering holes (don't worry, it's wearing a grounding strap) for tech tinkerers and upgrade addicts, was sold over the weekend to an undisclosed buyer for an undisclosed price, rumored to be in the $15m-$20m ballpark. The deal will close later this month.

With $5m monthly page views, whoever-it-was is paying about 5-7 cents a pageview, assuming they're paying for 5 years' worth. Which is to say, it's not quite making sense to me.

CEO Omid Rahmat of Tom's Publishing LLC, quoted at The Inquirer:

"TG Publishing, the publisher of Tom's Hardware Guide, has been sold. We expect the deal to close this month, and will make an official announcement at the appropriate time. We believe that there are some very exciting times ahead for the company, and that our readers have a lot to look forward to. I hope that I can share our expectations with you shortly."
