Time to don the Mithril and head to the game store, for Lord of the Rings Online: Shadows of Angmar is available to the general public today. I'll be interested to see what the community for this one is like; most MMOs develop a somewhat loyal following anyway, but adding in the Tolkein factor should send the devotion off the charts.
Not realizing that they could take it easy and chill for a while, Turbine also announced the first update to the game, Shores of Evendim, which will be released sometime in June. Evendim, which will be a free add-on, will offer an entirely new geographical region, more than 60 new quests, and nine new monsters. Kind of makes you wonder why they didn't include it in the main game, but whatever, it's free, so there's no real reason to complain.
As usual these days, there's the normal version of *Angmar *and the Special Edition. The Special Edition is $10 more special than the Standard, and includes 30 days of free play, a "making of" DVD, the official soundtrack and an exclusive in-game item.
