Awesome throughput. Four memory card slots and USB port for easy photo printing. Large, 250-sheet input tray. Two-sided printing standard. Nifty scanner feature lets you scan directly to any network share and in multiple formats, including PDF.

No Wi-Fi. Monster footprint doesn't fit comfortably on a desk. Prone to impromptu fits of "checking this device," taking the printer offline for minutes at a time. Color photos, at 4 minutes a page, aren't so speedy and aren't dark enough. Oddly, it smells funny.

HP claims this machine is the fastest all-in-one inkjet on the market, and it seems that's not just hype. It churns out high-quality prints considerably faster than the competition: At 12 pages a minute, text is arrives at nearly the rate of laser printers, and color copies, at almost 5ppm, were faster than most color lasers we've tested. At $400, it nearly doubles the price of competing inkjet all-in-ones, but its speediness makes it largely worth it.
