Why go see those fancy racers go in circles for hours when you can watch junkers race to their death? That's the idea behind the 24 Hours of LeMons, a series of races that kicks off at the Altamont race track (made infamous by the Rolling Stones) in July.

People buy a car for $500, fix it up, and drive it in circles for hours and hours. The emphasis is on having a good time, but prizes are awarded, and the least-liked vehicle is Kervorkianed into the netherworld.

While it's too late to enter a car in the July race, follow up events are scheduled in Detroit and again at Altamont in the fall.
