OperaThe final version of the Opera browser for Wii will release in April, and not this month as previously announced, Opera said today. No specific reason was given for the delay.

Any Wii user can currently download the beta version of the browser, called Internet Channel, for free through the Wii's integrated online store Wii Shop. The beta was released last December after the Wii launch.

Opera says that the full version of the browser will include many more features than the beta. "Opera and Nintendo are continuing to finalize what promises to be the ultimate Web surfing experience on the Wii console. The two companies are working closely together to meet user requests for browser features and to enhance the overall Wii Web experience," an Opera representative said in a statement this morning.

Nintendo had previously said that the full version of the Opera software would be available to all Wii owners for free through the end of June 2007; after that, it would cost $5. No word today on whether that schedule will change along with the delay of the full version.
