Being the jaded blogger type, I seldom see things that make me exclaim, "I gotta have one of those now!" But that was exactly my reaction after stumbling upon the PictureKnit booth at PMA.
The service produces custom-made rugs, tapestries, pillows and other items. Sent them a digital image and specifications for what you want, and they'll feed it into their knitting machine and send the finished goods to you in a few days.
The results look somewhere between black velvet painting and those funky, pointillist towels and wall hangings sold by many a street vendor. Which makes you associate the style with Jesus and Elvis. But now it can be your boss or mother-in-law!
I'm seriously jonesing for a Floyd the Barber pillow right now.
UPDATE: We later ran across BlanketWorx, which offers a similar service but with cotton thread instead of wool. And they appear to be a bit more prepared to take immediate orders.
