Seems that Konami is showing off a Silent Hill-themed gun game at the Arcade Operator's Union Show in Japan, and honestly, I'm not sure how to feel about that. Well, there's the deep and lingering sadness that arcades are largely a thing of the past here in the US, but that's more of a chronic condition like my gimpy left knee.

On the one hand, I'm a huge fan of the Silent Hill series and think that wandering, gun in hand, through the abandoned streets, hospitals, and schools of the town would make for one kick-ass gaming experience. On the other hand, part of what makes the Silent Hill games work is their feeling of creepy isolation and masterful use of sound to create an oppressive sense of dread--how well that will work in a noisy arcade setting? Guess I'll just have to go play it to find out, huh? The things I do for you people.
