New Zealand electronics conglomerate Brunswick International has sold off its Navman handheld GPSNavmanicn550_s business, with Taiwan buyer Mitac expected to fold the company's products into its own Mio line.

Navman mainly marketed its navigation units in Europe, where it usually ran well behind TomTom and Garmin in market share. A combined Mio/Navman business should eclipse Garmin as the second largest brand in Europe.

Brunswick had already sold of the marine navigation arm of Navman to Norwegian specialist Navico.
