If you want to drive the vehicle that is the best for the environment, don't buy a hybrid. The
American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy's list of green and mean vehicles put the Honda Civic GX natural gas-powered vehicle at the top of the list. The Civic GX has ranked highest several times before for burning cleaner than any non-electric vehicle on the road.
The second through four spots were held by hybrids (Prius, Civic and Altima), while the small Toyota Yaris was in fifth, ahead of the Camry Hybrid. No vehicles from the Big 3 made the list of the 12 cleanest vehicles, so the stereotype of cars from Asia as being greener is well deserved.
The Volkswagen Touareg ranked as the worst car for the environment, one of five diesel vehicles who make up the dirty dozen. While the Hummer gets much of the ire of environmentalists, it wasn't on the list, but the Lincoln Navigator and Ford and Dodge trucks are.
