Germany May Ban Smoking in Cars

Some emissions are apparently more important than others. Germany may ban cigarette smoking in cars following the release of a government-backed study that cites a heightened health and traffic safety risk. Germany already bans the use of mobile phones by drivers, though the ban is hardly ever enforced. As Edmunds notes:

A general smoking ban in public was dismissed by Germany's ruling coalition government headed by Chancellor Angela Merkel late last year despite findings that the quantity of fine particulates caused by smoking in enclosed surroundings can rise to more than 1,000 times the level which the European Union mandates for the banning of cars within city areas.
