Gingrey (R-Georgia, that's him with the bat) say tomorrow they'll introduce a bill that would allocate $15 million to research into finding stem cells with as much potential as those that come from embryos. We wrote about the bill at Wired News in July 2005.

A joint press release (emailed, can't find it online yet) from the two congressmen suggested that yesterday's news that researchers found stem cells in amniotic fluid spurred them to reintroduce the bill.

From the press release:

...the new Democrat majority has given no indication they will bring up any alternative to H.R. 3, showing their leadership's commitment only to stem cell research that destroys human life.

...The Democrats are unwilling to fund promising ethical
alternatives to DeGette-Castle. This is a misuse of taxpayer dollars.
