Just when you've gotten the researching-your-master's-thesis-on-your-Blackberry-while-driving thing figured out, our fellow Wired bloggers at Gear Factor bring news of "displays that are indistinguishable from plates of glass when not displaying an image":

[Northwestern University chemist Tobin] Marks and his team have created transparent, high-performance transistors that can serve as the guts of a display when embedded in glass or plastic. Without visible wires, the displays would be see-through even when projecting an image.

Applications could include car windshields that display maps and giant Blade Runner-like billboards.

Marks' startup "could have products on the market by 2008." Oh boy.
