The Rejection Hotline number is the one thing the attractive celibate should never leave home without. The last-ditch defense of the eternally polite and non-confrontational. From their FAQ:

In a nutshell, the Rejection Hotline is a number you can give out to somebody who asks for your phone number if you just don't want to give out your real number. When the unwanted suitor calls, they hear our humorous Rejection Hotline recording and they are not-so-subtly informed of your non-interest.

The Rejection Hotline people insist that this is a public service, and I can see their point. Rejected people occasionally become angry, sometimes threatening, but always embarrassing.

Still, I prefer the personal touch. Or personal slap, as it may be.
