Snapping Straps Prompt Snappy Comebacks

Widespread reports (meaning maybe a dozen) of snapping Wiimote straps has started a minor debate: are the straps faulty, or are the players?

It’s all your fault, Nintendo says, if your Wii strap fails:

…the problem is in the way the strap is being used, rather than in the strap itself....consumers need to be educated in its use.

But Aeropause contends that the Wii’s play-hard attitude encourages the very zeal they warn us against:

Aside of that, the Wii is aimed towards young kids as well as adults. They have to understand that when kids play games, they jump around like little monkeys. Especially when that's what the game is telling them to do.

If the users are truly to blame, as Nintendo claims, then why are the replacement straps so much beefier than the originals?
