The Department of Justice has subpoenaed Nvidia and AMD as part of an early-stage investigation of possible anti-trust violations in the graphics card business.
Both chipmakers say they haven’t been presented with any specific accusations and have no idea what the possible beef is.
We’re perplexed, too, as pricing strategies in the graphics business have ranged from cutthroat to yacht-dealer, and this particular Justice Dept. has tended to view any industry with at least 1.5 players as robustly competitive.
