The title of this article was extremely telling. This new atheism is a church, a religion of crusaders wishing to silence those who believe in God, in whatever form. As I read, I was reminded of priests who insist that all people accept their interpretation of God's Will without question. Their arrogance in assuming that all "highly intelligent people" should believe as they do belies hypocrisy. These new atheists demand this sort of blind faith from those they deem less intelligent. That any atheist may disbelieve in God, and be vocal about it, is a right without question. What I challenge is this new atheist crusade to silence others, especially those who do not use their own narrow interpretation of the world. A church that cannot allow for the beliefs of others is one I want no part of--atheist or otherwise.
