Miss Video Game 2007's Latest Contestant

The latest missives from the "gamer girl" front have arrived, and the news is grim: a site has opened for the Miss Video Game competition, and they’re taking applications.

To assist in the proliferation of females in gaming genres of all types and to help raise awareness of the female gaming audience among game publishers and advertisers. To make the gaming industry take women gamers seriously and to treat them with respect as equals.

Miss Video Game was created in order to showcase female gaming talent and marketable female gamers to gaming publishers and industry decision-makers as well as the gaming community as a whole.

It’s true, no single event has done more for women’s lib and the respectability of the female sex than the Miss America pageant. No single event…until Miss Video Game 2007.

Go ahead, page through the gallery of contestants. You’ll see a slew of familiar, pouting, squinting faces from Suicide Girls and various gaming blogs. And you’ll read some hilarious answers to the stock questions, such as this passage that Florian pointed out:

How I would change the perception of girl gamers:

You can’t make this stuff up. And I wouldn’t want to.

But when I submitted my application and dutifully marked “47” as my age, it told me to “please enter a valid age”. So I entered “15”, and was accepted. I’ve got this one in the bag.
